Kelantan Faces Major Increase in Evacuations
KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in Kelantan has worsened, with a large increase in evacuations. By 12:40 pm on Wednesday, 5,493 people from 1,682 families had been relocated to 76 shelters. This is a sharp increase from the 250 people evacuated the previous evening.
Dangerous Flood Levels in Kelantan’s Rivers
Six rivers in Kelantan, including Sungai Golok and Sungai Melor, have surpassed their danger levels, contributing to significant flooding. Flash floods from heavy rain have caused road blockages in Kota Baru.
Terengganu Faces Rising Water Levels
In Terengganu, 1,220 evacuees from 384 families are currently in 42 relief centers. Seven areas have been marked as critical due to rising water levels in nearby rivers.
Johor Remains Under Control
Meanwhile, Johor’s flood situation is stable, with only 28 evacuees from eight families in Segamat. No significant changes have been reported in the state.
